SIGNING MOU WITH AAF ON IMPLEMENTING THE ELEPHANT-FRIENDLY TOURISM MODEL AT YOK DON NATIONAL PARK

On July 12, 2023, Yok Don National Park signed the MoU with Animals Asia on implementing the elephant-friendly tourism model at Yok Don National Park (phase 2).

Phase 1 of the project has ended with many positive results; despite facing many challenges when pioneering in transforming tour models, changing tourists' habits when thinking about tourism using elephants, and the time being interrupted during the Covid epidemic, the number of tourists booking tours to experience elephants has increased significantly after reopening; the new model is getting the support from the visitors in Vietnam and worldwide. In addition to economic results, the health of elephants participating in the model has improved significantly, achieving the goal of elephant conservation and improving the welfare of elephants participating in tourism activities at the Park.

Phase 2 was signed to maintain and develop the results from Phase 1, draw experiences to improve the welfare of Yok Don elephants, and bring the elephant-friendly tourism model widespread.
